This website is for sharing my web apps, digital art, poems and my interpretations of the Dao De Jing by Laozi. I designed the text and image apps, and Claude AI wrote the code.
Text Editor: The first app is a text editor that simulates the look of a typewriter. It uses a monospace font, which means columns of numbers align perfectly, and it has many of the standard Rich Text Format ((rtf) editing features, like bold, italic and underlined text. I have added red text, among other enhanced features. It uses your browser's spell check capability as well. It has a typewriter format, being designed for letter size paper. Your printed pages will look like the ones on the screen. Press F1 for a helpful list of the key controls. All actions are initiated by keystrokes. Typewriters don't have menus, and lack of menus means speedier editing. Your work is saved as a private web page with an html extension.

Image Editor: This app is a versatile image viewer/editor that features image transformations and adjustments. It provides a way to load many images at once and page through them using the left and right cursor keys. If you see an image that needs changing you can make the edits and save the image back to your computer. Of course you can open one image at a time to use the editing tools that the app provides.
The editor uses a hub and spoke system. The main editor offers the adjustment and transformation features you expect in an image editor all on a single immediately available page. Nested menus are not needed. Basic editing is done quickly using a simple button system. The twenty two spokes listed on the right side control panel offer more detailed editing capabilities. Included are spokes for that give you layer blending, a collection of brush tools, and a spoke to add text to your image. Also included are filter spokes that allow you to create artistic effects. Many of these spokes include a reveal brush that erases the effect from areas you select.
Layer Blend Studio: Load an underlayer and use various blend modes and two opacity slider to blend it with the image you are editing. Great for adding textures and frames. You can also use an eraser brush to slowly erase what is on either the underlayer or the top layer. For more detailed information on this feature, click here: Help with Layers.
Brush Tools: The brushes here work to brighten or darken, sharpen or smooth areas on your image. In addition it has a healing brush and a clone tool. Each of these works gradually for seamless changes. Use Ctrl-click to select the source for the clone tool. There is also a fill tool Use Ctrl-click to select to select your color here too.
Curves: Curves are a powerful image editing tool that gives you precise control over the tonal range of an image. They work by allowing you to adjust specific brightness and contrast values, giving you the ability to fine-tune shadows, midtones, and highlights to achieve the perfect look for your images.
Text Editor: Add text to your images. Choose among four fonts. Style them in bold or italic if you wish. Select font sizes and colors. Add a signature and/or a date to your creations.
Kuwahara Filter: A simplifier that removes details while keeping sharp edges for artistic effects. It has a reveal brush and two opacity sliders for fine adjustments. Kuwahara filtering simplifies the details in an image while preserving clean edges.
Paint Stroke Filter: This filter also has a reveal brush and opacity slider. Select among eight brushes, then choose your brush size and stroke length to apply a variety of artistic effects. Use the opacity slider on all these apps to adjust the strength of the effect.
Clone Paint Tool: Open a second image and paint it onto the primary image with a brush. This is useful for artistically filtered images. After applying your artistic filters, open the original image to use as the source for your clone brush and then paint back detail as you like.
Color Wash Filter: Apply blur to one layer and sharpness to the other to smooth the colors for a wash effect. Adjust contrast and gamma and opacity as needed.
Sketch Filter: Five different sketch styles in three different blend modes. Allows fine tuning by adjusting effect intensity.
Adjust Hue: Change the hue of any color you select, or change all the hue on all colors at once. Good for artistic effects.
Rounded Selections: Allows you to crop an image to a elliptical shape or to a rectangle with rounded corners. When you return to the editor hub, click the Clear Outside button to remove excess transparent areas outside your new image.
Frame Options: Add frames to your image. Options include simple frame, bevel, fade, and vignette. You can also create a clear (transparent) frame that you can send to the Layer Blend spoke to use the outer edges of another image for the frame.
Expand Canvas: This spoke allows you to expand the image canvas in the color of your choice. White is the default color, or you can pick any color from the image for the expanded canvas.
Impressionist, Triangle Art, Scribbles, and Fibers: These filters create artistic effects. They are often best at lower opacities.
Region Growing Filter: Another simplifying filter.
Image Joiner and Image Repeater: Join images together or repeat images in a grid.
Edge Detection: Create black or white edges using Sobel, Prewitt, Laplacian, Roberts, or Canny filters.

Next are links to my 1111 poems and my three versions of the Dao De Jing, all of which relate the outlook of that classic to Douglas Harding's viewpoint on headless seeing. The Dao haiku meditations were created by Claude AI.
